94 acre former steel mill and copper smelter dating from the late 1800s to be redeveloped into modern 1.3 Million SF of modern warehouse/distribution facilities. The project is situated on Raritan River in Perth Amboy with direct truck access to New Jersey Turnpike Exit 11 as well as convenient access to NJ Highway 440. The site features a short and cost effective route from the Port of Newark/Elizabeth. Beyond excellent roadway access, the site offers both rail capability and direct maritime access. Catalyst, along with its investment partners, acquired this brownfield property in July 2016 and assumed the obligation to remediate the property and close out all environmental issues with the applicable government agencies. Entitlements, permitting, demolition and remediation of the property are underway. The seller of the property, Gerdau Ameristeel, is the world’s 14th largest steelmaker and the largest producer of long steel in the Americas. It has 337 industrial and commercial units and more than 45,000 employees across 14 countries.
